Air Quality Center

Real-time Data  |  Sampling Results

SAE believes that an informed community will do the best thing for itself.  We provides real-time air quality information right here at your fingertips.  Please see the Sensor Map and our Earlier AQ & Soil Tests information on our Air Quality Center page.

Fully scanned results of volatile organic compounds (VOC) samplings will be on the Air Quality Center page as well.  There are more to come.  These tests are conducted by certified specialists, and will be done so at regular intervals throughout the year.  Full results of soil sampling will also be made available.  Any testing near your resident may especially be of interest.  So be sure to check back with us. And don't forget the list of archived dust and soil test section.

Sensor

Program

SAE donates free air quality sensors to qualifying volunteers who are residents of an area we monitor.  The donation of sensors is also based on availability.  The sensors measure particulate matter, which is one of the six most common harmful air pollutants known as Criteria Pollutants.  Of course, particulate matter does not tell the whole story of air quality, but it can be an indicator.  Donated sensors may be registered by the resident as “inside” or “outside,” and as “public” or “private.”  If a sensor is designated for “outside” and “public,” the sensor and its real-time data will appear among other sensors on the manufacturer’s network map for our area, and the community can get a more complete picture of our air quality.

Volunteering

Opportunities

SAE encourages volunteering.  Our volunteers pledge to support responsible air quality practices in their community.  This entails:  (1) Speaking up for the community with respect to air quality concerns when the opportunity arises.  And (2), responding to us when contacted, although we do not expect to require any project participation in the near future.  After three months:  (a) Volunteers may qualify for a free air quality sensor under our Sensor Program.  And (b), if we plan any SAE events for the year, volunteers will be eligible for discounted tickets.  However, more importantly, volunteers get to participate in and ultimately enjoy cleaner air for their families and communities..

Educational

Tools

Part of SAE's educational efforts is the diligently gathered information provided on this site, with increasing input going forward -- all of which we think will be empowering.  In addition, as we continue to submit air quality complaints to EPA as well as contact other authorities when necessary, we will instruct the community on how to do the same.  That will include SAE being responsive to community inquiries and proactively reaching out to targeted areas also.

SAE-Share Information

Meantime, SAE provides a space for community networking.  For example, if you smell something or are curious about something related, how about sharing something.  First, SAE suggests that you report all serious and urgent concerns to the proper authorities.  Otherwise, SAE-Share it with your community.  To get started, sashay over to our Facebook page and to our SAE-Share group here.
